Manual Handling Accident Injury Claims North West

All lifting accidents happen when a worker is moving any kind of load. A load can be something simple like a small package, or could be a iron bar carried by two or three workers at once.

Any technique such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or putting items down is a manual handling job.

Employers have to comply with very strict rules and regulations to prevent any kind of accident arising where a manual handling lift is required. This includes ensuring workers are trained, the job is risk assessed, that the loads are not too heavy and that the right equipment is provided.

Our experience at The Claims Partnership in most cases where a worker sustains an injury, whilst carrying out a manual handling lift or task, is that the employer is found responsible for the injury.

Common Causes of Manual Handling Accidents

  • The weight of the load is too heavy.
  • A worker is required to turn and twist whilst carrying a load
  • A worker is required to repetitively carry small and heavy loads throughout their working day, leading to a cumulative back strain.
  • A worker is required to lift a load above his or her shoulders
  • The load shifts or moves whilst it is being carried.
  • The worker has not been trained in how to lift or carry the load properly.

She fell on her knees and jarred her bag.
