Dermal Filler Claims

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK. It is used by both men and women to smooth the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles such as forehead lines,  nose-to-mouth grooves and crow’s feet. It also adds fullness to the skin around the lips, eyes, cheeks and nose, but it does involve injecting material into the skin.

There are two main types of dermal fillers, and procedures can be completed in as little as 30 minutes:

  • Temporary fillers – These are made from hyaluronic acid. This treatment will slowly wear off as the acid is absorbed into the body
  • Longer-lasting fillers – These are made from more permanent materials in order to remain in the body for longer

While the procedure is normally quick and painless, unfortunately sometimes things do go wrong. According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), two out of three cosmetic surgeons have reported witnessing complications from temporary fillers.

Here at The Claims Partnership, we have seen an increase in the number of dermal filler procedures gone wrong over the past few years, as well as the number of practitioners with very little or no clinical training. If your procedure went wrong or you suffered consequences as a result, you may be entitled to make a dermal filler claim for compensation.

The claims we can pursue are not just limited to where a mistake has been made by the practitioner, but also where the results did not meet the representation made to you prior to the treatment.

Problems following dermal filler procedures

Following any cosmetic procedure, it is common to experience some side effects. After dermal fillers, swelling, bruising, soreness and redness are common, but they should subside within a week or two. Any of the following symptoms may indicate a more serious complication:

  • Paralysis of the facial muscles
  • Facial disfigurement
  • Blurred or impaired vision
  • A disappointing result or appearance
  • Drooping of the upper eyelid (ptosis)
  • Migration or movement of the filler to a different part of the face
  • Infection around the injection site
  • Emotional distress e.g. low mood, lack of confidence, depression
  • Scarring
  • Necrosis
  • Blocked blood vessels

How can we help with your dermal filler claim?

At The Claims Partnership, we keep your best interests at the heart of everything we do by constantly striving to provide you with a top quality service. No matter what the subject of your case is, we treat every client with respect, dignity and always fight their corner. We will do everything in the power of our skills and knowledge to win your claim.

How much will I be awarded?

The amount of compensation you receive for your dermal filler claim will depend on how much the procedure affected you; there are numerous factors to take into consideration. If it is not possible to quickly reverse the effects of the filler, then it is likely that the compensation awarded will be higher.

At the start of your claim, our experts will contact the clinic directly on your behalf to negotiate a reversal therapy if one is available. We also work very closely with specialist counsellors and psychologists to help minimise the emotional distress that can occur.

Our promise on costs

At The Claims Partnership, we have three simple rules which apply to our Cosmetic Surgery claims services. They also apply to all the other services we offer.

  1. We never charge our client anything until the day they receive their compensation payment
  2. We guarantee that all our clients will receive a minimum percentage of the compensation they are awarded
  3. We will agree that minimum percentage with our clients before we start work on their claim

Please see our Cosmetic Surgery costs page for more details or contact us on 01772 562084 if you have any questions.
